I love to start each day (and each meal if possible) with a refreshing cup of warm water, and a squeeze of lemon or lime juice.
How To Make Lemon/Lime Water:
Boil the kettle, and leave the water to cool a little, or stop the kettle before it boils fully – just so that the water is warm and not boiling, so that it doesn’t kill the enzymes in the lemon/lime. Then cut a lemon or lime in half, and hand-squeeze in the juice of one half.
Lemon/Lime Water Helps:
- stimulate and flush out the liver
- stimulate the body’s digestive juices
- promote bowel movements
- dissolve mucus or phlegm in the body
- keep the body maintain more alkaline pH levels. Even if you drink it just before each meal, it will help your body maintain a higher pH than if you didn’t drink it. The higher (or more alkaline) your pH, the more your body can resist disease.
If you have this as soon as you wake up, and then don’t eat anything else for an hour afterwards, you will allow your body to go on a mini detox each morning.
