The Ultimate Traveller’s App

While it may sound like it, this is not a sponsored post! I just love to share my favourite finds and this app is absolutely one of them 🙂

There is a wide range of travel companion apps around, and while I haven’t tried them all, TripIt has stumped me with its brilliance so much that I’ve lost any desire to seek another (but please share in the comments below if you’ve discovered something better!).

In a nutshell, this is my first taste of what it must be like to have a personal assistant.

Basically, when you’ve booked your flight, hotel, car rental, etc, just forward the confirmation email to plans@tripit.com. TripIt will instantly (and I mean, instantly) load up a day-by-day itinerary to your account.

Not only will it record your flight times and destinations, it will also add gate information, flight duration, aircraft details, destination weather conditions, and even driving directions from the airport to your hotel. It’s brilliant.

It also recognizes your home airport and automatically divides your trips into separate folders based upon your return flights. As you can see below, I’m a busy girl over the next few months!

Most frequent flyer and hotel rewards programs allow TripIt to store your account number, status, balance, expiry date, and even recent activity on one single page… All of them, on one page! If you resemble any of the Up in the Air characters then I know you will appreciate this as much as I do!

The iPhone/iPad app offers an easy-access summary which is a dream when your arms are full of bags and you’re racing to your gate but forgot which gate it actually was you needed to get to. Or when you have to tell your taxi driver which terminal, right as you’re pulling into the airport.

Flight delay? The app will tell you before the airline does! And during these delays, the app will then keep you informed on aircraft arrival, departure updates, gate changes, etc. Priceless.

Need an alternate flight?

It will tell you what’s available for that too. It will even connect with your flight’s exact aircraft on SeatExpert to show you seat reviews for when making that crucial selection.

It’s literally like having a personal travel assistant in your hand. If only it could carry your luggage for you too. Never say never.

LG x
